What is Reiki?

Updated: Apr 11, 2022

Reiki (known as "life force energy") is a balancing and harmonizing healing technique from Japan and is based on the principle that the practitioner can channel energy into the client by means of non-invasive touch, to activate the natural healing processes of the client's body and restore physical and emotional well-being.

Receiving Reiki is a wonderfully passive experience. Just relax, allowing your states to shift naturally as the session progresses. Meanwhile, feel free to daydream, enjoy the music, simply observe your breath or the sensations of the therapy and even allowing yourself to fall asleep (where healing happens best).

Reiki is commonly used as a holistic approach to provide support and balance to every individual and healing on all levels; physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

Reiki can be used alongside other complementary treatments such as acupuncture, massage, chiropractic or counseling to promote healing for specific ailments.

Conditions that Reiki has been commonly used to help include:

  • anxiety

  • depression

  • chronic pain

  • headaches

  • fatigue syndromes

  • relieve emotional stress

  • overcome trauma

  • sleep

  • deep relaxation

In Reiki, the practitioner doesn’t create or cause the healing, nor are they the source of that healing energy; they’re a channel for the energy — similarly a garden hose, used as a vessel for transferring water from the source to where is needed.

At Tehara Dream, we practice the traditional Usui method which requires no religious beliefs or spiritual background.

All you need is an open mind (:
